On Thursday evening, we gathered in the Johnson Room for "Cupcakes and Covers", a combined book discussion/cupcake-walk! 10 children took turns talking about the cupcake-themed books they had read, and then explained the inspiration behind the cupcakes they had baked, decorated, and brought to share. Once the talking was done, we made a beeline for our favorite cupcakes, and started eating! Delicious!! And so much fun! I was glad that the kids had enjoyed the wonderful books that started the whole thing, and I was amazed at the variety of cupcakes they produced. We will definitely have to do this again....
In case you're interested, the books the children chose from were:
Cupcake by Charise Harper (a picture book--E)
Fancy Nancy and the Delectable Cupcakes by Jane O'Connor (an early reader--ER)
Babymouse: Cupcake Tycoon by Jennifer Holm (a graphic novel--J GRAPHIC)
any Cupcake Diaries book by Coco Simon (paperback series--gr. 4-6 J)
The Rule of Three by Megan McDonald (gr. 4-6 J)
Close to Famous by Joan Bauer (gr. 5-7 J)
Come to the Children's Room to find any of these books----and if you get inspired to bake, Miss Sarah and Miss Sue are always willing to sample!!
